What Are the Pros and Cons of Resale Rights Products vs PLR Products?

Date: 20 Jan 2011 Comments:0

Many marketers are confused over resale rights products versus private label rights products.

While both can be resold by the buyer, each comes with different usage rights. It is important to pay close attention to what the seller has stated in the user license.

What’s the difference?

Resale rights products generally come in one format that cannot be edited. The most common is PDF. Some PDFs are not protected, so it is easy to simply copy the contents and paste it into your Word document for editing. The only legitimate reason for doing this is if you plan to rewrite it to 85% uniqueness.

The sellers of these products usually protect them because they expect their own links to remain intact within the product. This gives them free publicity for their own offers. Others simply do not want the product tampered with for whatever reason.

So you are limited in what you can do with resale rights products.

Private label rights products sellers, on the other hand, allow you to modify the contents, put your name on them, and resell them for 100% profit. Or you can give them away to your prospects and customers.

Here are more benefits to using PLR products

1. You receive the raw files which you can alter as you see fit, including rewriting the article or changing only a few things, adding links to your own offers or to affiliate products that you promote. You can even claim to be the author – legally.

2. You save yourself upwards of $1,500 or more to hire a professional writer to create an ebook for you. You also save yourself the time and effort in researching and writing it yourself. Rewriting is much quicker, and you don’t even have to do that if you don’t want to.

3. You can break it down into articles for your auto responder or to distribute to article directories. As well, you can turn it into free short reports as a giveaway to build your list. Add your links and send it viral by letting people pass it along freely.

4. Use it to create a mini-course to introduce your offers. If the ebook is large enough, you could even create a larger course and sell it.

5. Turn it into a video. This is all the rage today and it is very profitable. Once you have all the content through the private label rights products, your job is three-quarters done.

In the end, it depends on what you plan to do with the product and why. If you don’t mind passing around another marketer’s promotions, then resale rights products might be all you need. You can often find them at free giveaways and free PLR sites.

If you want to insert your own links and make the product unique to you and your business in other ways, then you will want PLR. You can find a good supply of free PLR all over the Internet. If you truly want high quality material that has not already flooded the Internet… then you are better off purchasing it from a reputable producer.

Always remember… you get what you pay for. To protect yourself, you’re better off going buying Quality PLR. At least you’ll know where to go if you have problems, unlike free products.

How to make money with websites

Date: 11 Mar 2010 Comments:0

Do you want to know how to make money with websites? You’re not alone. There is a lot of controversy over the type of website that will best help you to meet this goal.

At one time, the idea was to build a content rich site of 100 pages or more, but this puts restrictions on your progress. And unless you can find someone to create that content, you will spend many hours doing it yourself.

Such a huge site requires your constant attention because at some point, Google will expect to see something in new.

Recently, the trend has become to build mini sites that target one niche. Some marketers take it a step farther and target only a few keywords on that one site.

The advantage to having many small sites over having one or two big sites is that you can get into a lot of niches, rather than being restricted to just one or two. These sites are proving to be very profitable for those who have gone that route. They can put them together quickly and move on to building another one.

Apart from that, such sites are less overwhelming to visitors because they generally contain no more than 10 pages and usually much less.

The question comes down to what niches you will go into and where you will find the content. Obviously, the easier it is to get your hands on quality material, the quicker you can get your sites up and make money.

Private-label rights material is excellent for this type of project, especially if it has limited distribution. Many PLR sites sell to an unknown number of marketers, but worse, they give those marketers the resale rights. This means that once the material is purchased, the buyer can turn around and resell it to other marketers. They, in turn, can do the same.

You can see how this can snowball. Eventually, the articles are everywhere. At that point, your site loses its value because it does not have unique content.

The plan

Here’s how you should proceed to build profitable websites.

1. Look through affiliate directories to see what niches are popular and what types of products are being sold. You can either become an affiliate or look for products that you can buy and make your own. Starting with affiliate products is a good idea when you are beginning your online career. Eventually, you are wise to get your own products, then you can keep all of the profits.

2. Build a 5 page website that includes an opt in inbox and a freebie and begins to build your list. You can market to this list over and over again. Make sure the freebie offers quality information. Make one page your About Us page where you give people a few facts about you and your site’s purpose. The 3rd page should contain your privacy policy where you assure your visitors that you will keep their information confidential. Use the other 2 pages for valuable tips.

3. Stop by PLR Products Monthly to find some content to add to those extra 2 pages and to pick up your own Niche product. The site will have some reports and articles that you can break down and use as content. Or you can offer the report or one of the niche kits products for sale on your site.

Follow this process and you’ll be amazed at how easy it is to make money with websites, especially many small ones.

PLR Tips – Pros & Cons of Using Private Label Rights Products

Date: 11 Nov 2009 Comments:0

What are the pros and cons of using private label rights products? Perhaps you’ve heard from both sides of the argument and now are looking for some clarification.

Here are some PLR tips to help you.

Many so-called experts will tell you that you can go right ahead and post PLR articles wherever you please. What they don’t tell you is that you will run into problems using this approach. Read on to find out why.

The Cons

  1. Private label rights products must be reworked if you plan to use them for site content or article marketing, especially to avoid the duplicate content rules that some marketing sites impose. SEs will be less likely to list you if you don’t offer something unique for web surfers.
  2. Your status as an expert in your field will fly out the window if you use PLR as is and people see the same material with other authors’ names in the byline.
  3. You can’t be sure that the material isn’t plagiarized unless you run it through Copyscape. Using copyrighted material can get you into hot water with the original owners.
  4. The writing is often deplorable because the work is based more on quantity than on quality and is produced by people who are not native English writers.
  5. The research might not be accurate, which means unless you are knowledgeable on the subject, you could be passing on wrong information.

The Pros

  1. PLR saves you the time involved in hiring a writer, which can include posting ads, investigating the bidders’ profiles, doing test assignments to ensure they can produce to your standards, etc.
  2. You can claim full authorship of any PLR that you purchase or get  free. This saves you more time and effort because you do not have to do the writing and research.
  3. Good quality PLR will include graphics, a sales page, the main product and all original files so you can modify them to suit your needs.
  4. You can do anything you want with PLR (except resell the PLR license unless specified in your user agreement). You can add and edit the content, you can rewrite the entire thing if you wish, you can break it down into small articles or a mini-course for your subscribers. PLR articles on the same topic can be bundled into a giveaway report or ebooks.
  5. Private label rights products can be purchased at prices ranging from cheap to expensive, but overall, they are less expensive than the cost of hiring a ghostwriter to produce quality work for you. A good writer will cost upwards of $15 per article and around $800 for an ebook. Whereas you can purchase quality PLR products as low as $2 per article or $8 – $20 per ebook with graphics and sales page.

These points should be sufficient to help you in making the important decision whether to use Private Label Rights products. Just keep in mind that you get what you pay for. You might find free PLR, but in all likelihood, it will have been widely distributed and used by other marketers.

PLR Tip: When choosing where to buy your PLR, consider sites that offer limited downloads. In other words, you want PLR that is restricted to a certain number of marketers; 50, 150, 200, 250 are common numbers to go by.

Private Label Rights Products – What about Duplicate Content Issues?

Date: 5 Nov 2009 Comments:0

Private Label Rights Products are becoming extremely popular because they offer convenience and speed without the heavy work. You can grab what others have written and turn it into your own or use it as is, as long as you follow the User License Agreement.

This means you can buy PLR products, load up a web site or auto responder, and have your business up and running in no time.

One common question often asked is, “What about duplicate content?”

If you’re not familiar with this term, basically it’s something that can cause problems for you as far as Google is concerned. Google and other search engines look for original content. If you publish what others already did, you risk being ignored by the SEs.

Now, duplicate content doesn’t mean the information isn’t the same. Duplicate content  just means it’s written word for word – copied and used elsewhere.

For this very important reason, you must take some time to rewrite, or have rewritten, any PLR that you want to use on a web site, either your own, someone’s blog or an article directory. In fact, many article directories will reject Private Label Rights material. They discover that it’s duplicate content by running it through something like Copyscape and other free online services that let you compare your work with that of others.

Remember, very little is truly unique. Only the formatting, design and wording is original.

The only times you do not have to worry about duplicate content is if you are using the material in your auto responder, in a newsletter, or in book, report, video or audio format.

That’s where PLR packages like the ones you will find on www.plrproductsmonthly.com are great. Because they are books and reports, Google will not know you are not the only marketer using the material. You can break the content down into individual articles or turn them into mini-courses or sell the product as is and Google will be none the wiser.

There is a lot you can do with Private Label Rights products which I will be discussing over time, so stay tuned!

How To Profit From PLR Content

Date: 18 Oct 2009 Comments:0

Other than creating your own site content, PLR is the next best thing. We already talked about duplicate content and how it can be a problem for you if you use articles from the article directories. PLR can pose the same problem, if you do not use it correctly.

A Word of Warning… PLR content comes in many shapes, sizes and qualities. Finding good PLR can be a challenge, but once you find a provider that meets your high expectations, you can do extremely well using PLR for all your online marketing and business development needs.

You’re probably asking, how can PLR be used without it being duplicate content.

The answer is simple. You modify it before using it.

You might think that this is counterproductive, because of the time needed to rewrite the material or the cost to have someone else change it for you.

The good thing about good quality PLR is that it doesn’t require a lot of rewriting to make it good and original. There are some excellent rewriting programs available that you buy once, load up your article, write a few alternative paragraphs and hit “generate”. The end result is a set of articles that are each different in some way. It works by interchanging the different paragraphs that you have entered.

I won’t go into which ones to choose right now because there are good and bad programs – called article spinners. Bad ones do a terrible job and produce articles that are gibberish. A few actually do a good job, or so I’ve heard.

One program that puts the entire task in your hands is WordFlood. You load up your article and the program shows you alternative words and phrases that you can choose. As you go through all the underlined portions, you can select any of the suggestions that you like and that make sense in your sentence.

The end result is an article that appears original because of the changes in synonyms and phrases that mean the same thing but use different words. You can get more information on WordFlood here.

You can use quality PLR content elsewhere besides on your pages, such as in your auto responder. In that case, no modification is necessary unless you want to. Again, there is the chance some other marketers are using the same articles, but the chances of their subscribers being on your list too are not that great. Your subscribers will think the material was written by you. In fact, you can put your name right on it.

You can gather together a batch of PLR articles on the same topic and turn them into a report or ebook to give away or sell with your name on it and your links inside.

You can add your report or ebook to your other offers.

You can turn a quality PLR product into a money-making machine.

If you can get your hands on such material, you can have complete freedom to do what you please with it (but watch the User License agreements as they all differ). Generally, they allow you to break the product apart and use them as articles or e-courses for your auto responder or you can sell or give the book away at your discretion.

Here at PLR Products Monthly, we will offer quality niche start-up kits based around popular topics that are selling right now. They come with a web site (sales page), the graphics, original Photoshop files so you can modify the graphics to suit your needs, and you get the PDF ebook and original Word document of the manuscript so you can edit, modify, add to it and put your name and links into it to make it yours.

That’s where you can really profit from PLR content.

Build Your Site Content Using Article Directories

Date: 15 Oct 2009 Comments:0

One of the biggest challenges for people first starting out is how to find content for their sites. As mentioned in other posts, you can hire content providers, create it yourself, use PLR and use content that is made available through article directories.

This is the quickest and easiest way to launch your site or blog, but it has its drawbacks.

Here are the pros and cons of using articles written by others.

The Cons

1) The material likely will appear on other people’s sites as well, which means you will be publishing duplicate content. This can affect your position in the search engine results. Google, for instance, wants to see original content. If it doesn’t find it, your site will not make it into the top 10 results unless you happen to be one of a very few people using that article. Over time, however, if more people post your article, you will have more competition for that top position.

2) You cannot change the article or the author’s resource box. All must remain intact, which means you cannot leave off the resource box or insert your own links into it. While you are using the article to promote your offers, you will be advertising someone else’s product instead. You can only add your links within the article itself.

The Pros

1) Free material that meets your immediate needs. You can get your site up and running very quickly using article directory content.

2) You get to see the quality before you use it.

3) All the research has been done for you by the author.

4) You have tons of articles at your disposal, which makes it easy to find what you want.

5) It’s an easy way to keep fresh content on your site

As you can see, there are some positives to using article directory content, but if you do choose this option, you might want to make it a temporary thing. Focus more on getting your hands on material you can call your own, that you can put your name on, modify as you see fit, and include your own links. That way, it will be original to you.

At this point, you might want to look at the post that talks about how to use PLR to build your site content.

How to Find A Quality Content Provider

Date: 8 Oct 2009 Comments:0

In an earlier post, we discussed how you can use other people’s web feeds to load your site with content. Now, we’re moving on to outsourcing – specifically, how to find a quality ghostwriter or content provider.

First, it costs money to outsource and how much you pay will have a significant impact on the quality of what you receive. It’s the old adage, “you get what you pay for”.  Now, that’s not to say you can’t find good content providers who will only charge around $10 per 500-word article, but make sure the person can produce the quality you expect. A good ghostwriter will ask closer to $20-$25 minimum for an article.

One question many marketers ask on the forums is how to find a quality ghostwriter. They complain of having been ripped off (work not received), low quality work, missed deadlines, and more. While you are likely to run into such problems while searching for that quality writer, if you follow these easy steps, you can get there that much sooner.

1) Check their resources and portfolio. These can be faked, so even having a good portfolio might not necessarily prove anything. Still, it’s a good place to start. Read what they’ve written and make sure it makes sense and is grammatically correct.

2) Ask for references and check them out. Again, these can be faked but there is a way around it. Look for the writer’s previous clients and check out their sites. A quality site that’s been around for awhile will in all likelihood make a trustworthy sample. Talk directly to the client (email works but phone might be better).

3) Ask your prospective writer to provide you with one article first before you commit to buying bundles. You should be able to tell with just one article. Give them the topic, how you want them to approach it, any keywords you want inserted, how long it should be, and equally important, give them a specific deadline to deliver it, i.e.: by 5. p.m. Friday night, June 5, 2009. Deliver the details in writing. That way, there is no confusion. By giving them the exact details for the article, they will have to produce to your specs or hire someone themselves to do it, which they likely won’t do.

4) Once you’ve chosen your writer, give them small bundles at first so you can see how well they do before hiring them long term. You don’t want to get locked into a contract for 50 articles only to discover that the person cannot meet such a huge demand in the time you give them.

There’s nothing worse than expecting delivery and not getting it. Or worse, not even hearing from the person for days on end. Maintaining contact and updates, especially if the deadline cannot be met, is crucial throughout the process.

Follow these guidelines and you are sure to find a content provider who is reliable and who can deliver exactly what you want when you want it.

Use An RSS Feed For Fast, Easy Updated Site Content

Date: 3 Oct 2009 Comments:0

An RSS feed is an excellent way to keep your site filled with regularly updated content. If you are not familiar with the concept of RSS feeds, here’s a simple explanation.

If you have a blog, you will notice that your software (Wordpress, Blogger, etc.) has provided you with a special link so people can join your feed. What this does is enable your visitors to be notified whenever you publish a new post. Subscribers to your feed use a feed reader to read your content, rather than having to go right to your web site.

A RSS Content Builder works a little differently. Rather than people subscribing to a feed on your site, you join feeds from other people’s sites and have their content display on your site.

Site owners who want webmasters to take advantage of their content will provide them with an RSS Feed. All the webmaster has to do is join the feeds of their choice and put a small snippet of code on their web page where the content should appear. When the site is uploaded, fresh content will appear where the code sits. Each day that the feed owner adds new content, it will automatically appear on your site.

An RSS Content Builder  is a fabulous way to get content that is always refreshing itself. Your visitors will love it, the search engines will be attracted to it, and your readers will enjoy always finding something new on your site. Perhaps more important, you only have to set this up once and it runs on auto pilot.

A popular example of this are the feeds that provide news tickers and local weather. You’ve probably seen sites that offer those features. Merchant feeds is another example. Affiliates can benefit from feeds to display on their sites entire merchant ”stores”.

One way to take advantage of this for your actual content is to get yourself an RSS Content Builder which makes the whole process much simpler.

Typically, you install the software onto your server, go to the software’s control panel and choose how you want the feed to look, what you want to appear on your site, which provider has the most relevant content, and which feeds you want downloading to your site.

It’s quick, it’s easy and it’s hands-free. You don’t have to search for appropriate feeds because the software provides a selection for you.

The only downside to this option is that your site will be displaying content that is also being displayed on other sites. It’s important, therefore, to add other content besides feeds to be sure your site has unique content of its own.
